How are we green?
Our Data Centre's  utilises power from the power grid like any web hosting company. We have to take the energy from the grid in order to ensure that we have a constant flow of energy for our servers to ensure that these servers would not be interrupted by lack of power. Unfortunately, much of the energy flowing through our network today has been produced by polluting technologies such as fossil fuels. 

So how do we as a company "pay back" our community?

One option was to purchase CO2 credits to offset our consumption, however we didn't believe that this would truely help our world recover what we have reaped from the planet.

Our solution:

We believed financial contributions to organisations such as Landcare would best serve our environment by donating 1% of our turnover to assist the hard working workers and volunteers of Landcare in planting more trees - the natural way to off-set our carbon emissions.

Other forms that are green.
In addition to making contributions to Landcare, our Data Centre's work on all our servers and reconfigure them to operate more efficiently using less energy and cooler operation. This means less energy consumption on the server, and less energy to cool the server. (Co-location data centers are constantly cooled [24/7/365] by huge cooling fans that use a tremendous amount of energy). Such attention to detail on the servers allows us to be more energy efficient in our data centers, but it does not stop there.

Telecommuting
EcoSite Web Hosting seeks top notch people and sometimes we find talented service staff and experts who are not located near our offices. Instead of trying to relocate these talented employees to enable them to telework from home or a shared office near them. This means some of our employees do not have to go to work which saves time and money on travel there by reducing the carbon emissions in the consumption of fuel for their cars.
